We are often approached by new homeowners and landlords to assist them with the security of their properties.
One thing that is said repeatedly is “you never know who has a copy of the key” and this is very true!
Because of this we strongly recommend lock changes when moving into a new property, or if you are a landlord re letting out your home. We are also seeing an increase in lock changes for homes owned by the elderly/vulnerable who may have had a change of in-home care team.
This week we were contacted by a lovely lady from the Thurmaston area of Leicester who needed a door lock change and was in this exact situation.
The customer was a landlord and had been looking to re-rent her property, however a copy of the old keys had not been returned/become lost. To be on the safe side she spoke with us and requested a phone quotation.
From the information that she passed us we were able to give her a very competitive quote over the phone and an appointment was requested for the following day.
After the baking hot heat of the day before I would like to say that when we arrived we were in t-shirt and shorts however the heavens opened and we were met with downpour.
Nicely, however, we were able to work in the dry and had both locks removed and changed within 30 minutes.
With JG Locksmiths this was an anti snap, anti pick and anti drill lock at no extra cost. This came with 5 sets of keys for peace of mind.
Once we had completed the lock change our engineer fully lubricated the mechanisms to both doors (which is recommended by the manufacturer every 6 months).
You can find lubrication guidelines typically along the long piece of metal which runs from top to bottom of the door where the hooks are located.
As with most, this lock was very dry and definitely required lubrication to ensure lock longevity.
